It started with random diarrhea Tuesday night, followed by a rash, followed by puking. It is now Sunday (and my FOURTH Mother's Day!) and she seems to be turning the corner.

Yesterday was really bad. The poor thing slept until 10:30, was up for an hour and then crawled on my lap, laid her head on my chest and fell asleep immediately. I think she was awake for maybe four hours total yesterday. She didn't even want me to play Pat-a-Cake with her, which is one of her favorites. She just kept asking for "song", more specifically the "bird song" which is Hush Little Baby (Mockingbird).

She slept all night last night on my chest too. As much as I hate that she is sick, there is something so magical and comforting about the weight of your baby's head on your chest. It always makes me feel so deeply loved and sentimental. And I love that she needs me when she is looking for comfort. Although is has made for a less than ideal Mother's Day regarding activities, sometimes life slows you down just when you need it to.Katyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10067477667772396336noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6127377916415265706.post-54344824192018969362011-04-24T22:15:00.001-05:002011-04-24T22:24:07.933-05:00Non-Update<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-FmaRKURQJHM/TbTpTpeAHcI/AAAAAAAAA7g/Dt5UKjarZBU/s400/Oct10-March11%2B018.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5599356760486845890" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-1fYsfQve4kE/TbTpTYlBbXI/AAAAAAAAA7Y/Pzd-cE4B8IM/s400/Oct10-March11%2B044.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5599356755952889202" />
This isn't really an update, but a couple of pics from LAST YEAR that I never got around to posting. I feel overwhelmed with the lack of pictures I've posted so I figure I will just wipe the slate clean, post the couple cute ones I have and then just jump right back in. So there. Slate is clean and I will do better from now on! She has asked each day but when I tell her mommy's milk is gone she fusses a few seconds and then when I offer her an alternative (food or a drink) she smiles and says, "okay," in her little elf voice. So cute! And such a relief to me! Tucker's weaning was torture for both of us so I am so glad this is going so well!Katyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10067477667772396336noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6127377916415265706.post-30760578109395985962011-02-25T21:40:00.002-06:002011-02-25T22:14:52.738-06:00Dear Baby Girl,Oh, my sweet baby, today was the last time I nursed you. You woke up this morning at daybreak and for once I felt rested enough to actually get up with you instead of bringing you back to bed with me for more sleep while you nursed. I greeted you with a soft "Good Morning, Sweet Girl," and you asked for your usual "ulk."

We sat in the rocking chair in your room and we rocked while you nursed. We took our time, Tucker wasn't awake yet so it was just the two of us. It was so quiet and peaceful and although I didn't know it would be our last at the time, I drank in the moment and took some mental snapshots. Mornings like this are few, and far between and it was definitely special.

Your little pink footed sleeper, your request for three different "bankettes" to hold, your wispy morning hair, your bright brown eyes looking at me, the loud gulps as you filled your little belly. You got your fill of milk, gave me a kiss and climbed down off of my lap to go get a book to read.

After a day apart, when I came to pick you up at Grandma and Grandpa's house, you didn't ask to nurse immediately like you normally do. You sat on my lap while watching Lion King. When you finally asked, I told you, "not right now," and you were content with the answer. That was the first time it occurred to me that, just maybe, today was the last day.

When we finally got home, Tucker was asleep in the car and stayed asleep as I brought him into the house and put him in his bed. You and I sang songs, read books, I gave you a couple of cookies (a rare treat!), and we played for a while. It was in those moments with you that I realized that our morning was exactly how I wanted this part of our relationship to end.

Without me knowing ahead of time, which surely would have made me a sobbing mess in the moment.

Without me sleeping through it, which I often did during your morning milk.

Without anyone else present, so I could really absorb and drink in the moment.

When it was time for bed, you were quite upset when I put you in your crib without our normal nursing ritual. You cried for about twenty minutes and then fell asleep. I sat in the kitchen, questioning whether this was really the end and I surprisingly felt good about it.
I cried when I told Daddy and I have cried while writing you this letter. But I know this is the perfect ending to the perfect nursing relationship.

1100 days ago I started breastfeeding Tucker. I nursed him all throughout my pregnancy with you, and tandem nursed both of you for nine months. I weaned him and continued nursing you by yourself for another nine months. It has been my absolute pleasure and privilege to give you such an amazing gift.

I love you Baby Girl. I am excited to start the next chapter with you.

Love,
MommyKatyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10067477667772396336noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6127377916415265706.post-52791480970268772332011-02-23T22:56:00.002-06:002011-02-23T23:06:19.916-06:00I cannot stand when little kids are sassy, mouthy, or lippy. Tempers and attitude are two things I do not tolerate and I make my expectations very clear to my chlidren. That's not to say it never happens, it does, but I am quick to nip it in the bud so it does not continue and they know it is not acceptable.

Well, that is how I usually am.

Chloe has started just the slightest bit of sass. She has started telling me "No!" and "Don't!" And I'm ashamed to admit this, but it might just be the cutest thing I've ever seen and I am not super quick to correct her because it makes me smile and/or laugh every time. Seriously. Sass is cute on her, all 17.8 pounds of her. I'm also certain that it won't be cute in two more months or at all to another parent. And because of this, I really need to tighten the reigns on my tolerance with this before it gets worse.

Her personality is so different than Tucker's was at this age, her independence and sass make me just the teensiest bit pertrified of the future!Katyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10067477667772396336noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6127377916415265706.post-26715819900882139992010-12-15T23:21:00.002-06:002010-12-15T23:31:05.715-06:00Word WormChloe is only 15 months old and her vocabulary is freaking amazing. Obviously she doesn't take after me because I just used the word "freaking" instead of something that would sound a bit more intellectual. Eh, I'm smart, I'm just lazy. Here is a rundown of some of the words and phrases Chloe is using:

Words: mom, mommy, mama, daddy, Tucker, dog, doggy, cat, fish, fork, water, drink, eat, poop, table, car, spoon, cup, apple, banana, chicken, lips, ears, eyes, mouth, feet, toes, stinky, yucky, breakable (I am not kidding), Christmas, pretty, baby, block, whee!, airplane, octopus, pumpkin, chair, go, light, book, please, Emma, Cora, Grandma, Papa, Jake, Riley, bowl, table, impeccable (thank you, Aric), Aubrey, gate, walk, diaper, shirt, pants, socks, shoes, five, bug, frog, turtle, hop, quack, woof, bee, careful, milk, more

Phrases: thank you, read it, no-no, here ya go, I dunno, bye-bye

I know I am forgetting a ton but Ryan is asleep or I would have enlisted his help with this list. She amazes us every single day! Smart girl! <3Katyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10067477667772396336noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6127377916415265706.post-78566087659634607252010-12-01T23:51:00.001-06:002010-12-01T23:52:45.656-06:00I intended (intend?) to merge Tucker and Chloe's blogs onto my own, but something about doing that makes me sad. This is her baby book of sorts since I still have not even written her name in her actual one! It's not that I don't have the time in the evenings after the kids are in bed, but it's a lack of organized thought. Sort of a "1,838 cute things happened today so where in the world do I even begin" kind of thing. I need to be better because in the meantime, I am forgetting 1, 837 of those things and only remembering one. *sigh* I promise to do better.

I need to sort through all of the pictures I have on the computer of the past few months and organize some thoughts, but my intention is to blog on each of the kid's blogs each night this week. Stay tuned!Katyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10067477667772396336noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6127377916415265706.post-59581596427032064522010-06-03T00:04:00.002-05:002010-06-03T00:17:13.381-05:009 MonthsChloe is now the same age Tucker was when I got pregnant with her. I can't believe I had babies so close together. Now, at 9 months, it doesn't seem so hard. I'm going to be honest...the first six months are a complete blur to me. There isn't much I remember. I was just surviving on auto pilot whipping out defense mechanisms left and right.

But these days are much more enjoyable. Coco is such a sweet girl. She's very quiet and has what my in-laws call "Stealth Mode" where she will quietly crawl where she is not supposed to go and get into stuff she is not supposed to touch. She purses her lips in shy little smile, the face that cracks my mom up! She has a pointy little tongue that she sticks out at my dad while they play. She smiles at Ryan with a special smile she reserves just for him, he's wrapped around her finger already!

She now has three bottom teeth and she is a trooper with the teething! No fevers, no inconsolable crying, just a little more frequent waking at night. She is still a little peanut, I would guess her to be around 16 pounds now. She is cruising around furniture with standing alone right around the corner!

She giggles when you read to her and she especially loves touch and feel books. She also has a talent for finding all kinds of disgusting things left on the floor by her brother and cousin. She hates having her diaper changed and will fuss if you don't give her something to hold onto.

I love my Coco!Katyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10067477667772396336noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6127377916415265706.post-6770962497626068102010-05-31T08:38:00.001-05:002010-05-31T08:40:35.518-05:00Tooth, the sequelThis morning Chloe and I awoke to a brand new tooth! This is her second one on the bottom and it looks like we have a third coming in next to those very soon!

So far, (knock on wood) she is teething much better than Tucker! Tucker would always spike a high fever and scream in pain. Chloe just doesn't sleep well. Eh, I can handle that!Katyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10067477667772396336noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6127377916415265706.post-69354565980514479692010-05-13T22:31:00.002-05:002010-05-13T22:40:23.832-05:00Clap-tastic!Katyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10067477667772396336noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6127377916415265706.post-84306498995824996452010-05-13T22:21:00.002-05:002010-05-13T22:30:50.080-05:00Precious Precious Peanut

I wish her eyes photographed as pretty as they are. I was nursing her to sleep and she was doing the sign for "milk" the entire time she was eating. So precious!Katyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10067477667772396336noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6127377916415265706.post-20908882834067752952010-04-26T21:18:00.002-05:002010-04-26T21:20:52.646-05:00First ToothYesterday, after Chloe's nap, I noticed her lower gum was super swollen and Lo and Behold! I toofer just ready to pop through! Today it was even more visable so I do believe she will have her first tooth come morning, or at the very latest by bedtime tomorrow.Katyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10067477667772396336noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6127377916415265706.post-81549280641647674722010-04-22T22:56:00.002-05:002010-04-22T23:12:48.124-05:00We are so in trouble....Case in point #1: I was running Chloe's bath water and she was standing at the side of the tub watching. I looked over and saw her hike up her leg trying to get in by herself! When she realized it wasn't gonna happen, she started bouncing up and down like a crazy person! I was a little late with the camera, but she did do the leg hike again. We're gonna have to watch her like a hawk!
Case in point #2: Um. She is just over 7 months old and is pulling up and cruising! I had a different video to post to show her cruising a bit better but it was rather long and kind of boring. And if her mother thinks it's kind of boring, pretty sure you would agree. So, here's a short and sweet, albiet less impressive one:

Tucker also sat, crawled, and pulled up early but then he stopped and finally started to walk just past the 15 month mark. It will be interesting to see if Chloe does the same or if she will be an early walker. My bet is she will be early because she's already cruising, which Tucker never had an interest in trying.Katyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10067477667772396336noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6127377916415265706.post-62897599873704608172010-04-16T00:05:00.002-05:002010-04-16T00:11:23.248-05:00Toe: It's What's for DinnerKatyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10067477667772396336noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6127377916415265706.post-62955673502826065592010-04-15T23:46:00.001-05:002010-04-16T00:04:55.560-05:00Sweet Baby Coco<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_7DZGBqjATm8/S8fvADGIonI/AAAAAAAAAzY/oLRm1MpqFE8/s400/March+2010+007.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5460595857320092274" />
<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_7DZGBqjATm8/S8fu_2pyIuI/AAAAAAAAAzQ/uBwRQAC6iig/s400/March+2010+120.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5460595853979951842" />
<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_7DZGBqjATm8/S8fu_RlZ7NI/AAAAAAAAAzI/VHGb5dWUkEI/s400/March+2010+048.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5460595844029476050" />
<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_7DZGBqjATm8/S8fu-v5uEZI/AAAAAAAAAzA/TjZMKB_Qc78/s400/March+2010+053.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5460595834987876754" />Katyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10067477667772396336noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6127377916415265706.post-51899390530076797832010-04-02T21:01:00.002-05:002010-04-02T21:11:42.382-05:00Pretty Girl is 7 Months Old!My pretty girl is now 7 months old! Chloe is crawling all over the place and pulling to a stand. She is still smiley and she loves to be tickled. We have transitioned her to her own crib now but she still ends up in bed with Momma in the wee hours of the morning, which I happen to love. There is just nothing like snuggling with a baby with their little bodies all warm in the footie sleepers!

She is fluent in Baa sounds, although she prefers the screech and scream. I have been saying this for a while now, but she is definitely going to be our Wild Child/Adventurous Girl. I can tell already that she will be the one to accompany Ryan on the excursions Tucker and I are too chicken to participate in (i.e. scuba diving, rock wall climbing, sky diving, etc.).

Her hair has the same coppery tint that Tucker's does! Two redheads on my hands! Her eyes are just gorgeous, a perfect mixture of blue, brown, and green. Multi-colored eyes are the best! I guess the technical term would be hazel? Her ears. Oh, her ears could have a post all their own! I love her ears! They are big and they stick out and they are almost the cutest thing I've ever seen! I like to say she sat so early because her ears helped balance her. :)

She loves music. I love the song "Say Hey" (which I have declared to be our Spring/Summer anthem) and when I hold her and dance to it, she kicks her legs and flails her arms like a mad woman! I am trying to get a cute video of it so I can share her adorable-ness. I am so in love with my girl!Katyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10067477667772396336noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6127377916415265706.post-74091771743037077252010-03-16T23:34:00.004-05:002010-03-16T23:46:12.525-05:00Milestones and PicsChloe started sitting up at about 4.5 months and had it mastered at 5 months. She started eating solid food (avocado, green beans, and carrot so far) and has liked them all! She just started crawling last week and gets faster every day! She also does this funny thing when she's tired where she will turn her hands and feet in circles. Pretty cute stuff...here's a sampling of her latest pics!<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_7DZGBqjATm8/S6BeMH0GPUI/AAAAAAAAAsU/bvhZFYimLrs/s400/Jan+10+018.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5449459111467302210" />
<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_7DZGBqjATm8/S6BeLyLjsVI/AAAAAAAAAsM/bQLsyU238mE/s400/IMG_3951.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5449459105660121426" />
<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_7DZGBqjATm8/S6BeLiL3BXI/AAAAAAAAAsE/CvmL3m7R39c/s400/IMG_3914.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5449459101366420850" />
<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_7DZGBqjATm8/S6BeLEcYMsI/AAAAAAAAAr8/gGnkvXSdJKw/s400/IMG_3895.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5449459093382640322" />Katyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10067477667772396336noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6127377916415265706.post-38495095924116821402010-03-16T23:11:00.001-05:002010-03-16T23:30:27.571-05:00Picture Update<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_7DZGBqjATm8/S6BYSrSS5oI/AAAAAAAAAr0/RFL4tWdy5W4/s400/IMG_3865.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5449452626998650498" />
<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_7DZGBqjATm8/S6BYSHdTgdI/AAAAAAAAArs/GzElcnwdt3M/s400/IMG_3858.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5449452617381151186" />
<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_7DZGBqjATm8/S6BYR8YLruI/AAAAAAAAArk/bDuDpKNPx70/s400/IMG_3853.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5449452614406876898" />
<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_7DZGBqjATm8/S6BYRHsm5uI/AAAAAAAAArc/PX_Rp-TCiCE/s400/IMG_3830.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5449452600265467618" />
<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_7DZGBqjATm8/S6BYQ0QOcTI/AAAAAAAAArU/UDyzobVVIUc/s400/IMG_3835.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5449452595046150450" />Katyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10067477667772396336noreply@blogger.com0
