34 Week Appointment

Ryan and Tucker went with me to my appointment. My doctor was running late for pretty much the first time so it was a little hard to entertain Tucker during the wait.

We discussed the birth plan and the doctor seemed fine with how I wanted things to go. It's not like I'm asking for anything crazy, like making soup out of my placenta and serving it to him for a job well-done. Nah, he can go ahead and toss it in the Biohazard container, or whatever happens to all of those evicted placentas out there. Did you know some people take white paper to make a "placenta tree print"? I guess you lay the bloody organ on some paper, press down, lift if up and it leaves a stunning image (I am being facetious if you couldn't tell) that resembles a tree with leaves. The blood vessels really give it some beautiful texture, I'm sure.

We were talking the whole time, so he never mentioned what I measured or what her heartrate was today. He did poke around a bit and believes she is head down, but he will be able to tell better in 2 weeks when I start having internal checks.

I did have a bit of a weight jump this week but looking at my snausage (no, that isn't a typo, I said snausage and I mean snausage!) fingers and feet, I am chalking it up to water retention. Doctor agreed, especially when I explained how freakishly thirsty I have been in the past 2 days! He said there is no cause for concern because my blood pressure is fine as are my urine checks.

Sooooooo....next appointment in 2 weeks when the cooter checks begin!

32 Week Appointment

Pretty uneventful. He did notice my webbed toes and asked me about them. I tried joking with him but he is just kind of socially awkward, I guess. He does this weird thing where he will finish a sentence and then just stare at you nodding his head. Twatever. As long as he lets me do what I want in labor, I'm cool with him.

So, anyways, I am measuring 31 weeks, gained 1 lb. (17 total so far), and her heartrate was 150. We were supposed to discuss the birth plan but my pregnancy brain farted all over the place and I left it in the car. Next appointment in 2 weeks!

30 Week Appointment

Yesterday, I had my 30 week appointment. I passed my gestational diabetes test but I am slightly anemic. I was the same way with Tucker, I just have to add one iron pill a day and he said that would explain the tiredness I've suddenly had in the past few weeks. Her heartrate was 142 and he didn't mention how I measured and I neglected to ask.

He did let me know that it's quite common to go into labor early with the second baby, even more so if you get pregnant within a year of your last pregnancy so I am a little panicked now. I have so much to do still! I have to make it to 37 weeks in order to deliver at the Birth Center. Of course, this baby is a McMillen so I am not sure she'll be arriving early at all! My goal is to have everything ready and in order by August 1st, just to be on the safe side. My next visit is in 2 weeks and we will be discussing the birth plan.

28 Week Appointment

Today was my 28 week appointment and gestational diabetes test. If I don't hear anything from my doctor, then I passed the test so we'll just have to wait and see! My doctor was on a delivery today so I saw the midwife instead. She was very quick but I'm sure that is because she was just filling in for him. I am measuring on track at 28 weeks and Tater's heartrate was 146. I also gained another big chunk of weight putting me at 14 total. Not too bad, but it sure makes my 15 pound total gain goal a bit unachievable now. ;) I am now at the point of being seen every 2 weeks until 36 weeks, then I will be seen weekly! Eek! I am getting close!
